#70 Graduation Cap Box
In this video I will share with you how to create this Graduation Cap shaped box that you can fill with treats as a special gift for your graduate. The base of the box is 2″ x 2″, it’s 1″ high, and the graduation cap top is 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″. Really, just the perfect size to give a nice gift, without being too big and too expensive to fill if you need to give a lot of them out.

TEMPLATE FOR BOX LID
It is highly recommended that you create and test the box lid with a piece of SCRAP cardstock BEFORE you actually create it with the black cardstock. The reason for this, is that depending on how you cut, socred adn assembled the box bases, the size of the opening of the box top may vary slightly. Initially begin by trying a 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ piece of cardstock. Score in all four sides at 1/4″ and then at 1/2″. Cut out the shaded gray rectangles, and cut along the red linds. Assemble the box as shown in the video
- If the box lid was too big, then alter the dimension to 2-11/16″ x 2-11/16″ and scored as directed above.
- If the box lid was too small, then alter the dimension to 2-13/16″ x 2-13/16″ and scored as directed above.
- If you need to make any further adjustments, then do so only in 1/16″ increments.

BOX BASE
Print the template for the box base onto an A4 sheet of copy paper. Make sure that when you are printing, you set the pages scalling (or “fit to page”) setting to none. If you leave that box checked, it will shrink the template. Place the copy paper onto a sheet of Black CS using a repositionable adhesive and cut around it. Keep the two pieces together and use it to help you score, cut, and assemble as shown in video.
Once all the pieces of the graduation hat box are created, assemble all the pieces as shown in the video.
